Have you seen the header on this website? Yes! That's my name: Victor Guerra. I thank you for stoping by and read this section. This is the space on the internet where I try to keep a log of how I do resolve problems I deal with at work or when hacking in a personal projects, mainly with the purpose of having them for future reference; specially because I do tend to forget a lot of things ( fortunately ). Hopefully some of the things posted here can help others out there too, I would be happy if that is the case.
At the moment I live in Vienna, Austria but I was born and raised in Guatemala . I moved to Vienna at the begining of July 2008 because I got a position as Web Software Developer at the Vienna University of Economics, position that I still hold.
I got a B.S. in Systems Engineering, Informatics, and Computer Science at Universidad Francisco Marroquín followed by a M.Sc. in Computer Networks and Telecomunications at Universidad Galileo.
I got attracted by Math early in school and programming courses were not the exception, although I was introduced to it quite late ( compared with some of my colleages and kids these days) , when I was 16 years old. On my 2nd year of studies during my B.S. I got an introduction to Electronics. Those courses really captured my attention to the point that later on my carrier I had a hard time deciding weather to change to Electronics specialization or staying on the Computer Science one. Computer Science won the battle.
I have always enjoyed to play guitar and music is one of my passions also, unfortunately I don't dedicate that much time to them at the moment ( I know that has to change sooner rather tan later ). My father has been always a good guitar player so that inspired me to learn the instrument, I didn't get as far as I wanted but I still managed to play some songs I liked back then. I find traveling very interesting, specially when traveling to places I have never been before, you get to know different points of view and most of the interesting persons I know I met them while traveling. I try to do sports regulary and eat healthy food as much as possible, in my opinion this is crucial if you want to have a good physical condition after, lets say, 50?!.
